How to answer Why Should We Hire You

Q. What are the best answers for "Why should I hire you"?
Photo of a Quora answer by Mandy Fard of https://www.market-connections.net about Best answers for "Why should I hire you"?
First, you must know that an experienced interviewer will ask you four (4) types of questions:

  1. Behavioral Interview Questions
  2. Job Satisfaction Interview Questions
  3. Motivational Interview Questions
  4. General Questions

The question “WHY SHOULD I HIRE YOU” is listed under the Motivational Interview Questions. This question can come in different shapes and forms. In other words, the same question can be asked in different ways. Here are a couple of different ways of asking you the same thing:

  • WHAT MAKES YOU THINK YOU’RE QUALIFIED FOR THIS JOB? Or,
  • WHAT MAKES YOU A VALUABLE ASSET TO US?

So, you must have a strategy in place for success when it comes to responding to these questions. If you have access to job interview coaching, it can be of great help. If not, reading professionally-prepared content to provide you with interview coaching through blog posts can also be helpful.

For this particular question, the most important strategy is to study the company in advance. By the time you are asked this question, you must have already spent the time to thoroughly read and understand the job description. You must have a list of the REQUIREMENTS (related to this job), laid out in your head.

  1. So, start your answer by listing at least three of your qualifications that are the closest match to the job’s requirements list. For example, mention your “conflict resolution” skills, your in-depth knowledge of “digital marketing”, “strong writing” skills, your “mathematical aptitude”, etc.
  2. Next, describe examples from your previous jobs where you effectively learned and/or applied those skills. Be descriptive with your examples. This helps the interviewer paint a clear picture of the situation in their mind which not only helps them better understand your qualifications, but it also makes it easier for them to remember you with more details than others. Being descriptive here is an easy strategy to help you stand out from your competition.
  3. And finally, touch briefly on the company culture. Read their Mission Statement ahead of time and learn what you can about their company culture. Leverage this information and relate it to your personal values. Explain how or why their company mission is close to your values and how this makes you a good cultural fit for the company.

As you explain yourself at every stage listed above, be sure to avoid monotony. A monotonous voice and/or body language is not OK. Show “personality” and demonstrate your interest in a genuine way, without being overly enthusiastic; keep it balanced, interested, humble, and most importantly, real. Don’t be fake or overly confident. The more real, cool, relaxed, and interested you are, the easier it is for your interviewer to relate to you and understand the message you are delivering.

How to write the resume Summary

Q. What is a summary to highlight your personality and work experience?
Photo of a Quora Answer by Mandy Fard of https://www.market-connections.net about how to write a resume summaryHow to write the resume Summary
The Summary is the name of a section that most people include at the beginning of their resume. THere are a few EXAMPLES OF PROESSIONAL SUMMARY ON RESUME.

There is also a plethora of advice available on HOW TO write its content. The Summary section is meant to give the reader an overall idea of what the rest of the resume will be about (which of course has to focus on that person’s professional achievements).

While there are many ways to write a Summary section, one of the most common and basic rules is to RESPECT BREVITY.

I hope this helps.

How to Stop Procrastinating

Q. How does one solve procrastination?
Photo of an answer given on Quora by Mandy Fard of https://www.market-connections.net about how to stop procrastinationHow to stop procrastinating
Responding from a Career Coach perspective….

I’ve worked as a Career Coach for years and I’ve had this conversation with many of my clients. We have often talked about that feeling of procrastination because everyone can relate to it and it’s indeed a challenge to overcome for many!

So, from a Career Coach’s viewpoint, I am going to share four (4) tips with you and I hope you find them effective. Procrastination is a painful process that can hinder you from becoming successful. However, it is not something you have to live with forever. You do have the power to get rid of it even if it doesn’t feel like it.

The
KEY is to understand that there is ALWAYS an underlying reason. Simply put, procrastination is a symptom of something else. Therefore, we must figure out what that “something else” or “underlying reason” is AND how to improve it or get rid of it altogether. I am listing four (4) tips below. I hope it helps.

1. - “IDENTIFY” AND UNDERSTAND YOUR FEARS OR RESISTANCE
That “something else” or the “underlying reason” usually has to do with avoiding discomfort, delaying your fears, or trying to be a perfectionist. When you have low self-esteem or want to avoid the possibility of failing, it can be easy to push the task off.

However, “
facing these fears” or “leaving your comfort zone” is exactly what you need if you want to overcome procrastination. Ask yourself, “Why do I avoid this task, and what can I do to make it more manageable?”

2. - COMMIT TO A REALISTIC AND DISTRACTION-FREE SCHEDULE
The key here is to “commit”. The value of keeping your commitments to yourself is above and beyond GOLD! But the schedule MUST be realistic and distraction-free. Certain tasks simply cannot be completed when you are distracted. If you choose to simply ignore distractions, you’re opening the door to procrastination.

Create a schedule, so that it reminds you of the importance of your tasks and block out the time to get it done. When you schedule the time, you can’t make excuses.

3. WORK IN BLOCKS AND BATCHES
A great way to reduce or eliminate resistance is to first make the work look easier. This is a very effective way to avoid procrastination and I have seen it work wonders many times.
First, group similar work together. Space the work out in batches with ample breaks in between.

Second, create a schedule; if you can create your schedule, you don’t need to worry about the normal nine-to-five structure. Science shows this may not be an optimal schedule as your brain thrives on breaks to be more creative, focused, and energized.

4. LEARN TO EMBRACE DISCOMFORT
Finally, the most important advice to learn and the one you really can’t avoid, is learning how to leave your comfort zone behind. Most procrastinators who are delaying their tasks are known to be discomfort dodgers. However, many important and beautiful things in life will require some discomfort and if you don’t face it head-on, you may never be successful or gain the experiences you want in life.

I hope you will find these tips helpful. As long as you take the time to identify and understand your fears or resistance, you uncover the tools needed to eliminate them. Procrastination is only a symptom we can fix; it does not define us.

How to Find a Job on LinkedIn

Q. How do I find a job on LinkedIn?
Instructions on how to find a job on LinkedIn by https://www.market-connections.netHow to find a job on LinkedIn
I am certified by LinkedIn and I work full-time as a LinkedIn Profile Writer, Career Coach, and Resume Writer. I have also been an Executive Recruiter working on LinkedIn since LinkedIn started.

Most people prefer to find short answers to their questions. So, to make things as CONVENIENT as possible for the reader, I am going to give two (2) answers: A SUPER SHORT answer and a SHORT answer.

First, the SUPER SHORT answer… Please click on this link: https://www.LinkedIn.com/Jobs/Search. A new window will open. Enter the desired job title and location. And that’s it!!

You will immediately see a list of jobs that are suited to your skillset. But you must first MAKE SURE your LinkedIn profile is updated with your experience, education, and other information. Otherwise, you may not see the jobs that you desire to see. And this concludes my SUPER SHORT answer.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Next, my SHORT answer has four (4) easy steps:

  • STEP 1. Click on the “JOBS” icon found on top of your Profile Page or your Home Page.
  • STEP 2: A new page will open. Click on “JOB ALERTS”:
  • STEP 3: A new page will open. Click on “SEARCH FOR JOBS”
  • STEP 4: A new window will open. Enter the desired job title and location. And VOILÀ!

You can also use the filter boxes to narrow your search.

And that’s about everything. But the most important part is that you must MAKE SURE your LinkedIn profile is updated with your experience, education, and other information. Otherwise, with an incomplete profile, it may not be as easy to find a job on LinkedIn. It’s important to learn how to be found fast on LinkedIn. Once you follow LinkedIn instructions, you will begin to see changes in results.

I hope this helps.

Example of a Follow Up Email After a Job Interview

Q. What's an example of a good follow-up email after a job interview in 2021?
Free Follow up email example after a job interview from https://www.market-connections.netFollow up email example after a job interview
Here is a simple and very generic follow up email:

Dear ______,

Following our recent conversation regarding the open Payroll Coordinator position within the Accounting Department at your office, I am writing to thank you again for the time you took to consider my application.

It is very important for me to once again reiterate my interest in this position and to add that I am available for any additional questions you may have.
I thank you again for your consideration and I look forward to hearing back from you.

Sincerely,
Your name

Considering I don’t know anything about the position or the interview process you have been through, I think it’s fair to say that the above letter is very generic. From here, you can add your own details and personalize it.

Most importantly, remember one thing: When you follow up after an interview, your purpose should only be to thank them. It’s like a Thank You Letter. It is advised to REFRAIN from a “Sales Tone”. A “Sales Tone” is what you would apply in a Cover Letter. But a Thank You Letter has a different strategy. It is suggested to jobseekers to suffice it to a professional expression of gratitude instead of a “Sales Tone”.

On the other hand, it is also important to know what to say if you decide to make an INTERVIEW FOLLOW UP CALL.

I hope this helps.

Being Insecure When Applying for Jobs

Q. How can you tell if a job seeker candidate is insecure when applying for a job?
Job Search Advice given by Mandy Fard on Quora about being insecure in job interviewsJob Search Advice - Quora Answer
Thee are many ways to figure it out. The easiest way is to ask the candidate: “How do you feel?” They usually tell the truth. If they are nervous, they will actually tell you. If they are confident, they will say something like: “I am doing great; and you?”

But aside from a straight question, recruiters have many ways of finding this out. One of the easiest ways by asking the famous TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF question. The “way” people answer this question tells us a lot about a candidate’s comfort level.

Other similar question—which may even seem lame—are: “did you find the address easy?” or “How’s your day going so far?”…. These questions may seem very simple, but this is how we find out.

Another way, is by observing the candidate’s overall behavior. Usually body language alone is enough to indicate these things. By the same token, the interviewer may be nervous too. The candidate can feel/see the interviewers insecurity as well.

Here is another way; the way a candidate leaves an interview. Their manners, how comfortable, uncomfortable, in-a-hurry, or at-ease they are as the leave. Do they act like they can’t wait to get out of this interview, or are they comfortable, shake your hand, look you in the eye, and reiterate their interest in the job. It can all be very visible.

I hope this helps.

How to get noticed by recruiters

Q. How do I grab job opportunities, and how do I impress a recruiter?
Snapshot of a Quora question answered by Mandy Fard at https://www.market-connections.netJob search advice - Quora Answer
To find job opportunities you start by visiting job boards online. A good place to start can be LinkedIn.com. There are plenty of job boards. To begin, it depends where you are. If you are in North America (US/Canada), I’d suggest job boards like CareerBuilder, Monster, JobFox, JobScan, etc. You can also Google: “Job boards to find jobs”. Not to mention Google itself can serve as a Job Board. For example, you can simply type the name of the job and add “near me” to it, in the Search Box. i.e.: NURSING JOBS NEAR ME or TEACHING JOBS NEAR ME.

Once you choose the job boards, then you may want to have a professional resume and cover letter. Because you will need it to reply to job postings. Job searching without a resume is almost impossible, if not challenging.

Learning how to find recruiters is important because they don’t all offer the same service. Try to find one who knows a thing or two about your work.

There is not one universal formula on how to impress recruiters. But learning how to make your resume stand out can be a good start. This is not just a personal opinion. Rather, it stems from a two-decade long career in recruiting. I hope it helps.
